A free Day Care Centre is run by Society for Psychiatric Update & Research for the patients suffering from various mental illnesses. They are given vocational training, Social Training, negative symptoms management techniques so that they can lead their life successfully after acute management of their illness. Help is given by giving fitness certificates and disability certificates to the patients in need after standardized assessment.
Another important area where SPUR is striving hard to make a difference is teaching, training and awareness about intellectually disabled people. SPUR is attached to Navjeevan Society for Research and Rehabilitation of Mentally Handicapped which is working for intellectually disabled people since 1985.
As a part of the rehabilitation of Intellectually disabled people at Navjeevan Society, SPUR provides,
- Periodic Psychiatric Consultation to the intellectually disabled children
- Regular training to their teachers
- Public awareness activities for the caregivers and society at large from experts in the field of Psychiatry and Psychology
Experts from SPUR visit Navjeevan Society on the designated days of the month and also in case of any specific need. These services are being given without any monetary benefit and purely with the aim of promoting community integration of the people suffering from intellectual disabilities.
